Activate MySQL

You can request a MySQL database using ControlPanel's Plan Info module. Your database is limited to 50 MB. However, you can purchase additional disk space (in 50 MB increments) if necessary. Depending on your plan, you may receive 0-2 MySQL databases without cost (you can request more at additional cost) . Please note that even if a database is included in your plan, you must still request its activation using ControlPanel.

When you request a MySQL database, you will be prompted for:

Database name. The database name must be between 2 and 14 characters and can contain only letters, numbers and the underscore character.
Password. Your database password must be at least 6 characters and must contain at least one digit or punctuation symbol.

Once you submit your order, you will receive the following information:

Database user name. The name you will use to connect to your database. By default, this is the same as your database name.
Database server name. mysql.databaseusername.yourdomainname For example, mysql.todd.genericlinuxtest.com

If you are a Web hosting customer, you may activate MySQL in ControlPanel.

To activate MySQL:

1	In the home page in ControlPanelunder the Manage Services section, click the Website icon.
2	In the Website page scroll down to the Added Functionality section and clickMySQL.
3	You now see the MySQL Overview page. Click Activate.
4	The MySQL page appears. Enter your Database Name and your Password.
5	Click Create Database. An activation notice appears explaining that it can take 24-48 hours to set up your MySQL database. Typically, however, it can be created within minutes.
